Linda Shaw is both a studio and a plein air painter working primarily in oils.  Her work is derived from a wide array of subject matter -- landscape, portrait and everything in between. Linda's style is expressionistic yet maintains a representational quality. She employs a subdued palette, softened edges, and energetic brushwork to communicate her vision. Linda's work is greatly inspired by the Post-Impressionists that infused emotion in their paintings, creating space for reflection and connection.  Linda studied figure drawing in the 90's at the Art Students League of  New York, mostly working in charcoal.  With a perpetual student mindset, she continues to study with acclaimed regional and national artists to hone her craft. Linda was recently recognized in Modern Impressionist Magazine, earning a spot in the Salon's Top 20 Paintings, March/April 2025. Linda is based in Richmond, VA where she lives with her family and her rescue pittie, Woodford.
